Annie McGrath is a comedian, actor and writer renowned for her joke writing skills and deadpan style. Described by The Feminist Fringe as “dark and hilarious” ★★★★★, Annie’s sell-out Edinburgh Fringe show, Shepherd, received critical acclaim and transferred to a run at London’s Soho Theatre. Annie appeared in BBC Wales’ Live From Barry Island, which showcases the best stand-up comic talent from around the UK, and she was selected to be part of a line-up of alternative stand-up and character comedians on Channel 4’s Sparks series.
Annie has performed all around the UK and internationally, at The Comedy Store in London and Sydney, as well as multiple venues in Scandinavia. She has supported Rob Delaney, Russell Howard and Lou Sanders on tour, and her stand-up has featured on Audible, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio 4 Extra.
Annie has amassed a big online following for her TikTok sketches which have reached over a million views. She has also been nominated for multiple Funny Woman Awards for her comedy shorts.
An Arsenal fan, and a keen follower of the women’s game, Annie appeared as a guest on Sky Sports’ Good Morning Euros show ahead of the Lionesses victory in 2022, and was interviewed on BBC News during the Women’s World Cup in 2023. She also co-hosted a daily web series with Lou Sanders during the 2018 Men’s World Cup, called From Russia With Lou & Annie. Annie appears in the hit comedy podcast, Dial F For Football, and has acted in numerous sketches for Sky Sports’ cult show Soccer AM.
Annie also plays for Clapton CFC in the Tier-7 FA affiliated Greater London Women’s Football League, and she takes part in Alex Horne’s annual comedians’ football match (Chicken City v Egg United) every year at Chesham United’s ground.
